Syrgis Performance Products CEO Joins SOCMA Board of Governors
COVINGTON, KY. – (Jan. 27, 2009) – Syrgis Performance Products, an international diversified group of niche specialty chemical manufacturers, today announced that CEO Andy Harris was elected to the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association’s (SOCMA) board of governors. Harris also sits on the Board of Directors for the University of Arizona Alumni Association.

Harris joined Syrgis in January 2007 and also serves as President of both H&S Chemical and Syrgis Performance Initiators, two of the Syrgis’ subsidiaries. Harris is responsible for the culture, day-to-day operations and long-term strategy at Syrgis and is focused on building the corporate infrastructure needed to support the company’s four subsidiaries:
H&S Chemical Company, Inc. - Located in Covington, Ky., and a technology-based manufacturer of select specialty halogen chemicals, particularly disinfectant and sanitizer products for use in cleaning and disinfection, biocides for paints and coatings, and fluorinated halocarbons for specialty electronic gases;
Lycus Ltd. – Headquartered in El Dorado, Ark., and a leading producer of ultraviolet (UV) light absorbers for use in plastics, coatings/adhesives and personal care;
P Chem, Inc. - Located in Latexo, Texas, and a provider of specialty corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, chemical scavengers and various other specialty chemicals which are used in a broad range of oil and gas process applications; and
Syrgis Performance Initiators – Headquartered in Helena, Ark., and Stockholm, Sweden, and a leading producer of organic peroxide initiators used in the polymerization of unsaturated polyester, vinyl ester, styrenic and other resins with vinyl unsaturation.
Harris posts 25 years of dynamic experience in specialty chemicals, oil & gas, process instrumentation and environmental equipment companies, including management experience with Betz Laboratories (now GE Water and Process Technologies), Endress+Hauser, Exxon Company USA, CerOx Corporation, Burkert Fluid Control Systems and Rovsing Dynamics.
